Institute Representatives Participate in Euroseeds 2025 Congress

More than 1,300 participants from across the globe gathered at the Euroseeds 2025 Congress, one of the most significant international events in the seed sector. The Congress brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry representatives to present cutting-edge solutions, discuss key challenges, and explore the future of seed production and plant breeding.

This year’s programme featured a rich agenda of lectures structured by crop types, alongside numerous discussions with companies showcasing their services, technologies, and innovative products. Start-ups, SMEs, and public–private partnerships introduced advanced tools and concepts aimed at improving seed quality, breeding efficiency, and data management.

Focus on Digitalisation and Data Management in Breeding

Representatives of the Institute held a series of meetings with companies specialised in software solutions for storing, processing, and analysing breeding data, as well as integrating laboratory and field workflows.

A detailed discussion was held with Enid Perez-Lara from the Canadian company Agronomix, developer of the Genovix breeding data platform. Genovix supports trial data processing, genetic lineage tracking, combine and drone data collection, and the integration of sequencing and laboratory datasets. It also offers tools for seed production management through barcode-based data capture, with flexible annual licensing options.

The German company Computomics GmbH presented its predictive analytics software designed to forecast hybrid performance and reduce the number of field trials across locations and years.

Representatives of NoMaze, Peter Fleck and Jean-Pascal Lutze, introduced their solution for advanced breeding data analysis, proposing a six-month pilot project to tailor the software to user needs.

Phenome Networks, the largest global company specializing in agricultural data management, highlighted its collaborations with leading universities and industry giants such as BASF and Syngenta.

An agreement was made with all software companies to organize online presentations for interested Institute researchers by the end of the year, enabling a broader evaluation of available tools and the selection of the most suitable solution for institutional needs.

Meetings with Seed-Technology Companies

Discussions were also held with Incotec, a company developing seed-coating technologies. Topics included natural bird-repellent formulations and current challenges associated with their application. Company representatives informed that an EU regulation banning acrylic polymers in seed coatings will come into force on 1 January 2028.

A meeting with Golden West focused on their maize breeding programme aimed at developing hybrids tolerant to drought conditions.

A Platform for Collaboration, Innovation, and Partnerships

Euroseeds 2025 provided an outstanding platform for professional exchange, networking, and exploring future collaboration opportunities. The dynamic and inspiring atmosphere of the Congress fostered meaningful discussions, new partnerships, and insights into the latest trends shaping the global seed industry.

The participation of the Institute’s representatives strengthened international cooperation and opened new avenues for integrating advanced digital tools and innovative approaches within ongoing and future breeding programmes.
