The Inter-Balkan Environment Center (i-BEC), scientific director of the European CARBONICA program, successfully organized the Brain Gain Conference: “Carbon Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation: Solutions for Resilient Areas and Local Communities” on April 3, 2025, at the Research Dissemination Center (KEDEA) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).

Held within the framework of the CARBONICA project, the conference served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among experts in carbon agriculture. Its primary focus was to strengthen efforts to attract and retain highly specialized professionals in Greece, encourage the return of skilled scientists from the diaspora, and showcase the transformative potential of carbon agriculture as a driver for sustainable development.
Discussions at the event emphasized how carbon agriculture can become a catalyst for leveraging Greece’s scientific expertise, fostering innovation, and empowering local communities. Participants explored strategies for municipalities and regions to support the transition to climate-resilient agricultural practices through coordinated action and targeted initiatives.
The AUTH team actively contributed to the conference, distributing informational materials and promoting the CREDIT Vibes project, further enriching the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
