As part of the CREDIT Vibes staff exchange program, Dr. Vesna Perić of the Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje (MRI), Serbia, delivered an invited lecture on May 15, 2025, at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS). The lecture, titled “Soybean Breeding at the Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje”, was presented within the event Soybean and Maize Research at MRI, Belgrade, Serbia, and brought together both research and non-research staff at KIS for an engaging exchange of knowledge.

Dr. Perić’s presentation was a key highlight of her month-long training at KIS, where she participated in a staff exchange under the CREDIT Vibes project. The lecture offered an in-depth look at MRI’s work in soybean breeding, with particular emphasis on ongoing efforts to develop nutrient-enriched and climate-resilient varieties. It served not only as a platform for knowledge sharing but also for strengthening collaboration within the CREDIT Vibes network.
Following the lecture, an open discussion ensued, during which researchers from both institutions exchanged perspectives on the challenges and innovations in legume breeding. Topics such as selection strategies, breeding environments, and integrating new technologies into traditional breeding frameworks sparked a lively and constructive dialogue.
The invited lecture exemplified the spirit of the CREDIT Vibes initiative: fostering cross-institutional learning, building research capacity, and promoting innovation in crop science for human and animal health. The event marked a meaningful step toward deeper collaboration between MRI and KIS, particularly in the areas of soybean and legume breeding, genotyping, and citizen science.

Dr. Perić’s contribution through the lecture and the broader exchange program underscores the role of international staff mobility in strengthening European research excellence and addressing future agricultural challenges.
