The Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and the Interbalkan Environment Center (IBEC), in collaboration with Thracian Ginning Factories S.A. and with the support of Agrotech and K&N Efthimiadis, organized an open training seminar and field demonstration in Komotini under the theme: “Digital and Sustainable Cotton Farming in Practice: Measuring the Carbon Footprint, Monitoring with Drones, and Training on Soil, Water, and Crop Protection”.
The event targeted agricultural professionals and stakeholders, aiming to expand knowledge, skills, and expertise in carbon farming practices. By focusing on innovative, climate-smart farming methods, the initiative emphasized practical approaches for carbon sequestration tailored to local crops and environmental conditions.
In addition to expert-led training, participants had the opportunity to witness hands-on demonstrations of advanced monitoring technologies, such as drone-based field assessments, and to gain insight into sustainable crop protection and water and soil management techniques.
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) team, also involved in IBEC’s related projects, actively participated in the event. They distributed informational materials promoting the CREDIT Vibes project, further strengthening connections between ongoing European initiatives and local agricultural communities.
