Project Researchers Present Latest Advances in Maize Breeding at the V International Plant Breeding Congress

Project researchers actively contributed to the V International Plant Breeding Congress, held in Antalya, Türkiye, from 1–5 December 2025. The congress brought together leading scientists and breeders from around the world to exchange knowledge on modern plant breeding strategies, tools, and challenges.

Dr. Jovan Pavlov delivered an oral presentation entitled “Selection of maize hybrids adapted to the Mediterranean area using GGE biplot analysis”. His work highlighted the application of advanced statistical approaches to identify maize hybrids with stable performance and high adaptability under Mediterranean agro-climatic conditions, contributing to more resilient and efficient breeding programs.

In addition, Dr. Zoran Čamdžija presented research on “Donor-Specific Factors Shape Doubled Haploid Efficiency in Temperate Maize Breeding”. The presentation addressed key genetic and biological factors influencing doubled haploid technology, an essential tool for accelerating the development of improved maize lines in temperate environments.

Participation in this international congress strengthened the project’s visibility and reinforced its commitment to advancing innovative, science-based solutions in maize breeding. The presented results underscore the project’s contribution to developing high-performing, adaptable crop varieties aligned with future agricultural and climatic challenges.
