Successful Completion of Training on Financial Management for Horizon Projects

The MRI team attended a training course on Financial management and administration of Horizon projects. EUTA Training Academy conducted a two-day training  in Belgrade, with the aim of enhancing skills in project proposal writing and implementation. Three trainees participated: Dr. Valentina Nikolić, Dr. Ana Nikolić, and Marina Ivanović. The training took place over two days, on November 21st and 22nd, 2024.

Key points of the training were strategies for implementing projects more successfully and maximizing the use of approved financial resources by understanding the budget categories and the specific eligibility conditions for each category.

The first day of the training was dedicated to financial rules under Horizon Europe:

  • EU-funded research and innovation (R&I) projects vs. Business projects
  • Model Grant Agreement – Legal and Financial provisions
  • Horizon Europe – Financial provisions, including funding rates and types of costs
  • Horizon Europe – Financial provisions, covering budget categories (Part I)
  • Workshop on Horizon Europe Personnel costs calculation
  • Horizon Europe – Financial provisions, covering budget categories (Part II)
  • Workshop on Horizon Europe budget calculation
  • Project application form
  • Comparison between H2020 and Horizon Europe

On the second day of the training attendees learned about financial implementation of the EU-funded R&I projects through several tasks:

  • Financial and project management of EU-funded research and innovation (R&I) projects;
  • WORKSHOP Personnel costs and Time record
  • EU financial rules VS. National legislation Part II
  • Lump sum – Budget table and implementation issues
  • Horizon Europe projects – Controls and audits – General overview
  • EU financial rules VS. National legislation Part I
  • Horizon Europe projects – The financial reporting

Each day of the training ended with very constructive discussion.
